Galatians 2:11-21

Today's Scripture

Living by the law is a tough thing to do. I find this is true every day as I drive in traffic and find myself cruising along with others at above the posted speeds. An encounter with a police car with his radar gun pointed my way leads to an immediate slow down.

God knows our imperfections. He gave us the law, not so we would be frustrated, but so that we would know our need for him, for we can never be perfect law abiders. We need his love and grace.

But does that mean it is okay to be lawbreakers? Absolutely not! Paul tells us here that we die to the law so we might live for God. We are crucified with Christ, so we no longer live, but Christ lives in us. And as we embrace Christ within, we can live in a righteous manner, pleasing to God. Paul says, "if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" (v 21, NIV). Only through him can we live in a holy manner. Let's put our trust in him for all our actions and thoughts, every day.
